• To testify of Christ with power

Christ's last words to His disciples before His ascension. Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.​​

Expansion of the gospel by the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word. 5 Philip went down to the
city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ. 6 And the crowds with one accord paid
attention to what was being said by Philip, when they heard him and saw the signs that he
did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who had them, and
many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. 8 So there was much joy in that city.

 

• To have the Fruit of the Spirit

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23
gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
 

The evidence of the fruit is a transformed character. Romans 14:17-20;
Ephesians 3:16-19; 2Corinthians 2:10-13; James 3:13-18
17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness
and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and
approved by men. 19 So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.

 

• To exercise the Gifts of the Spirit

According to what has been given to us. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Romans 12:6-
8; Ephesians 4:114 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers
them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

To serve and build up the church. 1 Peter 4:10-11; 2 Timothy 1:6 and 4:14;
Exodus 31:1-5; 1 Corinthians 14:12 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified
through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen
